The Castle
Another great day tour is going to the Castle, or Castillo.
The Castillo, which is in the Bosque de Chapultepec forest, can be seen from many parts of town. It’s the only real royal castle in the Americas. It's got beautiful architecture, art, and furnishings. It's absolutely amazing—just short of Versailles-level glamor. But you actually see how the aristocracy in Mexico lived hundreds of years ago. It's a stunning place, just as good as any European castle.
Getting to the castle entrance is a tiring walk. You'll be walking up a very steep hill to get there.
Be prepared for the walk. Tickets are very cheap—only a couple dollars—and if they see you are a tourist, you may get waived through without a ticket!
Note: You cannot bring water in, so you'll be asked to pour out any water when you get to the door. Keep that in mind.
