The chaos and sounds of Mexico City

Mexico City is loud.

Undoubtedly, the signature sound of Mexico City is the “scrap metal girl.” A robotic-sounding, high pitched recording blaring from a junk truck that rides around the city all day. The explanation of this sound is that a junkman driving around Mexico City asked his daughter to announce (via a cheap microphone and speaker) that they are looking to buy "STOVES, MICROWAVES, MATTRESSES". You'll hear this at all hours of the day.

Another sound in Mexico City will be tamale and food salesman on bikes. You will hear them from 5:00 AM to 2:00 AM. They ride around Mexico City on carts announcing the food they’ve got for sales: delicious tamales, fresh tacos, and more!
