Buying basics and essentials in Mexico City

There are the three stores that you need to know….

Superama, Sanborns, and Sears.

Superama:

This is the most common grocery store in Mexico City. You can buy most of your food and beverage needs. This includes fresh and packaged food, alcohol, personal care items, and some over the counter pharmaceutical goods. Superama is a Walmart-owned store and they're all over the city with regular daily hours. They're usually open pretty late, and are well lit and safe to visit.

Sanborns:

Imagine an upscale Target with a sit-down restaurant, and you have Sanborns! This store also have great pharmacy items and personal care items, with staff who can help you find what you need. If you need an extra bag to pack things in or if you need specific glassware… Sanborns has a little bit of everything!

Sears:

Sears is like an upscale department in Mexico City. Don’t expect it to be like a run-down American Mall Sears. It’s seriously as nice as Saks Fifth Avenue. We went there because we needed to buy scented candles for our Airbnb.
